Book NowSage Divakara Muni Vilwamangala Swamiyar founded the Temple. As per the legends, Lord Vishnu Appeared before Vilwamangalam Swamiyar. Swamiyar who resided near Ananthapuram Temple in Kasargod District (believed to be the ‘Moolastham’) prayed to Vishnu for his darshan. The deity is believed to have come in the guise of a little boy. Vilwamangalam Swami Enamoured by the charming presence of the child, the sage entrusted him with minor jobs related to the daily rituals. But as days passed by the child got too playful and started hampering poojas and one day he defiled the idol kept for pooja. The sage became enraged at this and chased away the boy and the boy vanished into thin air. Realising the truth the sage wept for forgiveness and asked for another darshan and heard words echoed there “if you want to see me again come to Ananthankadu”. After a long search when he was walking on the banks of the Laccadive sea, he heard a pulaya lady warning her child that she would throw him in Ananthankadu. the delighted swamiyar proceeded to Ananthankadu based on the directions given by the lady.
